For a week now after we heard a loud explosive noise from the direction of our transformer, our electricity supply had been truncated perpetually. I got in touch with those responsible for the maintenance and was told that @IkejaElectric will have to inspect before repairs.
This has been a tradition of late no matter your emergency. These extortionate & fraudulent billing brigade show no care for community issues bordering on their services until it’s time to serve you their onerous estimated bill, often followed up by their disconnection team.
I was away, so I contacted the community association to summon an emergency meeting. I asked that the community should BAN all activities of Ikeja Electric until further notice, since there is no power, there MUST be no Bills while we find an alternative to our power issues.
The youth in the community were mobilized to ensure compliance to this strict rule having suffer enough losses with Ikeja Electric’s irresponsibility and lackadaisical attitudes to Service. I also placed a call to the marketing officer of the district on our position.
It wasn’t until we were ready for a showdown that these freaks decided to crawl down to fix the issues and restore the power within 24hrs of the notification of community action against their impunity.
Some areas weren’t so lucky. Some are still in darkness. Why are we Thus?!
