The Oba of Benin has advised the President and Founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr. Fredrick Fashaeun to continue to pilot the affairs of the organisation in the manner that it would be respected worldwide.
Oba Ewuare II gave the advice when Dr. Fashaeun led other members of the congress on a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty in his Palace in Benin City.
The Benin Monarch said security poses serious challenge to our values, norms, culture and tradition, pointing out that as traditional leaders, they have tried to upgrade and promote it to the highest level.
His Royal Majesty assured Dr. Fashaeun of Palace acceptance of Oodua Peoples Congress as an organisation that is not a militant group, but protecting the human race.
Addressing the Omo N’Oba earlier, Dr. Fredrick Fashaeun told Oba Ewuare II that Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) is a social cultural organisation established to promote, defend and protect the interest of human race, pointing out that it was not meant for community trouble.
Dr. Fashaeun said he has come for greater opportunity to excel in the security of lives and property which the people desire so much.
He commended the Oba of Benin for elevating the Benin tradition and acknowledged the contributions of His Royal Majesty to the progress, and happiness of the people.
The OPC President and Founder remarked that his visit to the Oba of Benin would remain indelible in his mind as he has ever been exposed to tradition in this manner.
Dr. Fashaeun assured the Benin Monarch that there is no faction in OPC as Oodua is one race.
