Sunday, December 3, 2017- The Internet got a massive shake as young Nigerians share their experiences and encounters with the Nigerian Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The Nigerian Government with a good motive created the Special Anti-Robbery Squad known as SARS to combat the robbery menace in the country, but the men deployed to undertake this objective have overshoot their limit and has caused the citizens to cry out for an END to SARS with the hashtag #ENDSARSNOW #ENDSARSBRUTALITY #ENDSARS.
According to OdeyPeter ODOO @odeyodo: “you don’t throw away the baby with the bath water. Let SARS be responsible for violent crimes and not vehicle inspection agents and laptops receipt versifiers. Once these petty distractions are taken from them, SARS would be more responsible”.
Reports have it that Citizens have been at the mercies of the Nigerian Special Anti-Robbery Squad, especially the younger generation. Many have died from the brutality carried out by the SARS men, while others have paid huge sum of money to bail themselves out of their cage.
A famous artist @adekunleGOLD and some others also made their voices heard on twitter when they twitted the following:
I have experienced the brutality from some power drunk #SARS police officials as well. Hoping the govt can act swiftly on this one.

Basically, #SARS & most policemen instantly assume you are a fraudster if you re pushing a good car. The treatment is usually worse if you got all boys in the car & hell comes down if ya’all wearing blings or shades. #ENDSARS

Trace Naija contributted to the campaign:
We are ashamed of the system. The lives of Nigerian youths are being cut short. This is the right time to put an end/reform to the unlawful arm of the NPF. We call for the reform of the #SARS #EndSARS

Been on this #SARS talk for about 3 years now. First day I discussed them on @NigeriaInfoPH, folks sent me private messages to be careful about it or stop the talk altogether. Great to see Nigerians speak up with #EndSARS. If we’re all careful, how will this country change?

Responding to the cry of the citizens on SARS Brutality, the Nigeria Police PRO said those calling for the End of SARS may likely be Armed Robbers, but the citizens response to this claim triggers more investigations.
However, the Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police Force has called for a Re-Organization of the Nigeria Special Anti-Robbery Squad across the country.
The Nigerian Police Force hereby advises citizens to report any complaints about their contact with SARS via their twitter handles
They don’t need to know their names, all they need citizens to provide are details of the occurrence (action/act) with DATE, TIME & PLACE.
