The Oba Ewuare II Foundation in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment has organized skill acquisition programme at the Oba Ewuare II Foundation Complex in Benin City.
According to Desmond Agbama, CPS to Oba of Benin, the empowerment programme is aimed at training 50 youths in the state including the Libya returnees. The training will be on entrepreneurship skills like liquid soap making, baby powder, hair cream, baby oil, weavon oil among others.
Speaking, the Face of Oba Ewuare II Foundation, Miss Ifueko Aideyan expressed the readiness of the foundation to engage youths on training in order for them to be self-reliant, and advised youths to key into the programme.
Miss Ifueko Aideyan said the Oba Ewuare II Foundation is determined to eradicate poverty amongst youth through skill acquisition and financial empowerment.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of National Directorate of Employment, Mrs. Ayo Edegbai thanked His Royal Majesty for taking a bold step at stamping out human trafficking, illegal migration and other social vices in the state.
Mrs. Ayo Edegbai said she is honoured to work with Oba Ewuare II Foundation in impacting on the youth and giving them a sense of belonging in the society. She added that the skills acquisition programme is in line with Federal Government approval to train and retrain 76,400 youths in the country that NDE has been given the approval as well to specifically engage 50 youths in the state. She wish Oba Ewuare II more long life to do more.
Meanwhile, the Oba Ewuare II Foundation has disbursed the second batch of stipend of Twenty Thousand Naira to the Libya returnees some of whom are also part of the training programme.
The disbursement was done at the Oba Ewuare II Foundation Complex, Benin City by the Private Secretary to the Oba of Benin, Barr. Eseosa Erevbanarhue, who is also Secretary to Oba Ewuare II Foundation.
Some of the Libya returnees expressed gratitude to His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin for his magnanimity and fatherly love and care. They promised to use the money judiciously to better their life.
