The football world got quite the jolt on Sunday evening, when the Carolina Panthers announced that their owner, Jerry Richardson, would sell the team. The football world got another jolt only a few hours later when rapper and Hip-Hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, announced that he would like to buy the Panthers.

Oh, and he also wants to sign Colin Kaepernick.

Richardson, under fire from allegations of sexual misconduct and racial mistreatment, decided to sell the team only a short time after those allegations became public on Sunday.

That news, led to this announcement from Combs:

Later on Sunday evening, Combs doubled-down on his interest in purchasing the franchise, and signing Kaepernick, in a video posted to Instagram.

Combs said, “I will immediately address the Colin Kaepernick situation and put him in the running for next year’s starting quarterback. It’s just competition, baby. It’s just competition.”

Kaepernick, the original NFL anthem-protester, began the protest movement in the preseason of 2016. After the conclusion of the 2016 season, Kaepernick walked away from his contract with the 49ers and has not signed on with another team. Kaepernick believes the league’s owners have colluded against him, in hopes of keeping him out of the league, and has filed a grievance against the NFL.

“Diddy” also said in the video, “I will have the best halftime show, the best selection of music. And we will win Super Bowl after Super Bowl.”

However, according to the Daily News, the hip-hop mogul will likely need some help in purchasing the Panthers. The team’s worth is $120 million more than the rapper’s total net value.
